Grace Scholars

The Grace Scholars program trains young leaders in light and service of Christ. Annual recipients form the Grace Scholars Cohort, with the scholarship affording them time for personal spiritual development and ministry to others that might otherwise be spent working to help cover school expenses.

The Cohort for 2018-2019 has been selected. Please stay tuned for information about next year's scholarship opportunity.

How Is Funding Awarded and Who Is Eligible?

The Grace Covenant Scholarships are merit-based awards of $2,500 for Christian students who are full-time undergraduate or graduate students at an accredited academic institute in Greater Richmond. Via application and interview, four recipients are chosen each year, each receiving $2,500. The scholarship affords students time for personal spiritual development and ministry to others that might otherwise have to be spent working to help cover school expenses. This initiative is generously supported by Grace Covenant's Endowment Fund.

What Can Scholars Expect to Experience?

We focus in particular on understanding divisions of Richmond’s past and present, participating in ministries of outreach and reconciliation, and theologically re-envisioning the common good of our metropolitan area. Scholars will engage in a monthly seminar, join with us in worship, and volunteer regularly with one of the local ministries we support (such as Shalom Farms, CHAT, Metro-Wide Transit, Boaz & Ruth, RISC, and STEP among others). They are also encouraged to join us for any and all aspects of our congregational life together, including Wednesday Night Supper and Sunday School.
