Reaching out with the love of Christ

We believe that the gospel is good news for all people, not just for a select few. We also believe that life in Jesus’ new community truly is the good life. We are therefore committed to telling the good news of the gospel to our neighbors both through our words and our actions. Below you will find some information about how we are working to reach out to our neighbors here in the Fan and beyond.

If you have questions about Jesus or his teachings we would be glad to spend some time with you conversing about these important issues. Just email us here and we’ll make some time.

How we build relationships with our neighbors

Community Groups

We believe that people best understand the gospel as they witness Christians loving Christ and each other in real community. This is why we consider Community Groups the main context for outreach to our neighborhoods. These are elemental Christian communities where our people come together to eat, pray, study, and welcome neighbors and friends into their gatherings. KidShine Drama Camp

In the summer of 2008 we began serving the children of our community by offering KidShine, an amazing performing arts day camp. Our first year we had over 40 children from all over Richmond come together to have a great week preparing and performing a high-energy Christian theater production. This is a wonderful summer opportunity for children in grades 3-8. For more information about KidShine go to www.kidshineonline.org. Our 2009 camp will take place from July 27-31--call the church office now to sign your kids up!

Neighborhood Hospitality Team

We believe that the life and culture of the Fan is just about as good as it gets! That’s why when new neighbors move into the neighborhood we welcome them personally to the community! Our Neighborhood Welcome Team visits new residents and greets them with a gift bag and information about the neighborhood to help them get settled. If you know of any neighbors who have not yet been welcomed personally by us, please let us know!

Monument Avenue 10k Team and Party

You’d be hard pressed to find a better time to be on Monument Avenue than during the 10k! Beginning last year we formed a training team that ran together regularly in preparation for the race, then ran together on a soggy Saturday! All went well, especially since we had a party going on out front, where we cheered the runners on and welcomed our neighbors for food and drink. It’s just one more way we’re enjoying our community and blessing our neighbors.

Arts for our community

At Grace Covenant we value the arts and we work to bring quality musical performances to our neighborhood. While Sunday morning worship is by no means meant to be a show, we do value the beauty of music and appreciate artistic excellence in the worship service, as we believe this best reveals the beauty and goodness of God and helps us lift our hearts to him. We also bring in world-class musicians on occasion for concerts that are open to the public. For more information please contact the church office or click here for more about music at Grace Covenant.
