Seeking the peace of the City
The needs in our city at times seem overwhelming. We see division, violence, drug abuse, poverty, and other signs of the fall around us. That’s why it is important to remember the words of Jesus, “In this world you will have troubles. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16.33)
When we serve our neighbors with sympathy and compassion and seek to bring about the things that God desires for our city, we reveal the reality of God’s Kingdom reign among us. We battle injustices because we believe that it grieves God’s heart when people are treated unfairly. We feed the hungry because Christ identified himself with those who are hungry and thirsty. We work to break the cycle of poverty so that our communities might understand the power of God to transform lives.
Do you grieve over the state of our city? We invite you to serve God alongside us as we seek to bring peace and blessing to our neighbors.
