Community Groups at GCPC
If the good news of Jesus is the content of our faith, then community is the context within which we learn to live out our faith. In Community Groups we seek to live life together under the gospel as we build deep relationships with God, each other, and our neighbors.
Community Groups are home-based fellowship groups that gather regularly to eat, build deeper relationships, study scripture, pray for one another, and reach out to love and serve neighbors. Below you will learn more about these groups, but we encourage you to go beyond mere reading and get involved with a group personally!
The core values of Community Groups
The Gospel
The gospel of Jesus Christ gives shape to our common life. Because the cross is at the center of the gospel, we live cross-centered lives as we sacrifice for the common good, put to death our self-seeking ways, admit our faults to one another, and speak the truths of the gospel into each other’s lives.
Community
Christ came not just to rescue individuals from sin but also to establish his new community that reflects God’s Kingdom priorities. We gather together regularly to celebrate and live into this reality.
Prayer
We realize that nothing will be accomplished in our community if it is not brought about by God. We also trust that Christ knows what is best for his body. We therefore seek to live prayerfully in full reliance on the Holy Spirit.
Hospitality
We live before a watching world, and we realize that our neighbors will understand and interpret the gospel according to what they see it producing in us. While this is a sobering reality, we see it as an opportunity to include neighbors and friends in our community so they will have an opportunity to see the good news of the gospel believed and embodied. It is our hope that, as others see our common life, they would become a part of our fellowship and put their hope in Christ.
Service
As we grow in love for Christ and each other we also naturally grow in our love for our neighbors. We believe that Christian community is the best context for discerning problems in our neighborhoods serving those around us with love and compassion.

“Fellowship with other people in small community groups was something I never associated with church before this year. Now that I've begun participating in these get-togethers, I find myself looking forward to them more and more.”
